Battle of the Kings

STORY: Larry Bentley

Sahara Stadium Kingsmead had a strange mix of fans on Sunday with Sharks supporters streaming through the turnstiles with their flags and supporter gear very evident. What was billed as the ‘Battle of the Kings’ representing the champions of Kings Park and Kingsmead was a charity event of cricket with an interesting twist. Concessions were made to even the playing fields and these included The Sharks being allowed to field with 15 players, although there was a Yellow Card system in place with the umpire ‘sin binning’ fielders for sloppy play. The Dolphins were also only allowed a five metre run up when bowling. The result of the Pro20 match was that the Dolphins won by two runs and Patrick Lambie was named Man of the Match.
