André Killian is the new President of the Empangeni Rugby Club (ERC). He was elected unopposed and takes over the reigns from Hugh Moore for the 2010 season. With that kind of support, he can now take on the position with a great deal of confidence. André is a rugby man through and through and played front row for Transvaal when was in charge. He is a successful businessman, who will no doubt apply his business acumen in running the club.

Address
Hugh Moore, is his final presidential address at the ERC’s Annual General Meeting held at Mick Kelly Park on Monday night, commented favourably on the excellent turnout of members at the meeting. There were well over 70 present, a record attendance. He thanked the Killian family for the changes they had made to the club and the Zululand Rugby Academy and for the way they had set up the club. ‘Without this academy, we are dead. ‘It is so important for this club to remain in the first division. ‘We finished fifth last season and there is no reason why we can’t go even further. ‘We now have the commitment and players to do so. ‘And we must remember how important the lower sides are to this club. ‘It is from these teams that we draw our players to boost Rhinos I and II. ‘Nobody would have dreamed or believed that we would win the Murray Cup, but we did it. ‘It’s about time we win the Moor Cup!’ He thanked the players and committee for their support and had a special word of thanks to Simon Harvey for the efficient way he had managed the club’s affairs as chairman. The following office bearers were elected for the 2010 season:
• President - A Killian;
• Chairman - S Harvey;
• Vice-Chairman - C J Edwards;
• Club Captain - K Crous;
• Secretary - P Crous;
• Treasurer - H Boshoff;
• Match Secretary - T Chilcott.
