Rugby Club positive despite losing players
STORY: Mike Harrison
It is good to know that the Thanda Group will be sponsoring the Empangeni Rugby Club again this year and that the Killians of the FFS Group are to be joint sponsors under the banner of the Zululand Rugby Academy (ZRA). The club would not function as well as it does without sponsors of this nature. Preseason training continues to thrive and, with 45 students now in action, prospects for the 2010 season are starting to look good. The club is sorry to announce that Senzo Sibiya has, together with Neil de Bruyn, joined College Rovers. There is also talk of Richard Aingworth making a move to Crusaders, but that has to be confirmed. Prince Mofeking still has to make an appearance, while Menzies Ngidi is another who will more than likely move back to Durban. Turnouts at the training sessions to date have been encouraging. There are a lot of new players, who will no doubt come under the watchful eyes of the selectors at the club trials to be held towards the end of February. Training sessions will continue every Tuesday and Thursday at 6pm. Players are urged to attend these sessions so as to achieve the level of fitness that is required for teams to fill the cabinet with a bit of silverware this coming season.
