Grieving family in court

Family members of the late Gansen Gounder arrived at the Richards Bay Magistrate's Court on Tuesday: Morgan and Sharon Govender, Ronnie Naidoo, Mummy Govender, Priscilla Naidoo, Ranjini Govender, Hannelie Naidoo, Yolanda Govender and Lallie Naidoo
The two suspects who were arrested last month in connection with the death of Gansen Gounder appeared in the Richards Bay Magistrate’s Court on Tuesday.
The case has been remanded to
22 February pending the outcome of the Director of Public Prosecutions Office regarding a possible referral to High Court. The suspects remain in custody.
The Brackenham Community is still grappling to come to terms with the brutal murder of Gounder which occurred last month.
It is believed he was killed and his body was buried in the garden of a Brackenham house for five days before being dumped in the Enseleni River.
Gounder went missing on 3 January and the two suspects were arrested on 8 January, while his body was recovered the day after.
Disheartened
Speaking to the family outside the court, members expressed their gratitude and thanks to the community who have stood by them through their ordeal.
Morgan Govender said that his family was still struggling to come to terms with Gansen’s death. ‘His mother is still grieving over the incident and so are the children, who are taking it very badly.’
