Tourists can now look forward to a uniquely South African experience in the heart of eSikhawini. This after the Esikhaleni Senkosi Tourism Association held their official launch at the City of uMhlathuze auditorium on Tuesday afternoon. With an exceptional attendance of municipal officials, local leaders, businesses and service providers the Association highlighted their objectives. In her opening speech, City Deputy Mayor, Cllr Celiwe Madlopha commended the Association for their work thus far in establishing themselves.‘The City had to dissolve the previous tourism association as it was not benefitting the disadvantaged communities.‘It is excellent that the association is looking to change the stigma associated with townships and uniting all the race groups through this venture.’

Encouraged
Guest speaker, CEO of Tourism KZN, Ndabo Khoza offered insightful and informative suggestions to the newly established association. ‘Tourism should be driven by tour operators in the area, and they should compile packages that incorporate all the local businesses in the vicinity. ‘Operators need to be developed and empowered in order to bring tourists to this region. ‘And they need to look at their competitive position and identify with countries that would enjoy our sights. ‘Locals must support each other and look at how jointly they can put packages together,’ he said.
