Family Care now at full steam

Richards Bay Family Care now has a full staff compliment which significantly increases the organisation’s community outreach capabilities. Introducing newly elected Chairperson Paul Venter to the Board, Manager Ronèl Ferreira said with the ever increasing workload, the incorporation of additional board members, staff promotions and new appointments come as good news for clients and the community. Motsilisi Mosoane was elected Vice Chairperson, Jamyn Douglas will remain as Treasurer and Gugu Ncanana as Secretary. Paupienah Makgatho was added as an additional member, with Louise Greyling, Vic Pretorius, Miranda Denton, Thabi Shange and Angela Benjamin remaining as committee members. Speaking on Family Care’s challenges, Ferreira said, ‘Apart from dealing with the normal workload, the focus currently is on making adjustments to protocols and formats to incorporate the changes as demanded by the new Child Care Act and the Children’s Amendment Act. ‘These acts have not come into operation as yet and the regulations have not been published. ‘We are currently still making use of the provisions of the old act, but already refer to the principles of the new act.’
