The annual Mondi 21 run and walk was a huge success. Although winners were crowned after three competitive races, the true winners of the day were the local NGOs. Mondi donated R60 000 to Zululand Hospice, Empangeni Child Welfare, Richards Bay Family Care, SANCA, the House of Shalom and the Empangeni Round Table. Congratulations must go to all the pupils, parents and supporters who showed their enthusiasm and support in the 5km fun run and walk schools challenge. The Mondi 21 race attracted an amazing 1123 finishers, of which 631 entered the 5km fun run and walk schools challenge alone. The enthusiasm the NGOs and schools showed was awesome. After each finisher crossed the line and handed in their tag, supporting the schools challenge, the results were tallied and the winner announced. Congratulations to the Richards Bay Christian School for winning the schools challenge. They received a R10 000 prize and 20 boxes of Mondi Rotatrim. These are the results of the schools challenge: RBCS - 231, Richardsbaai Hoërskool - 211, St Catherine’s - 198, Empangeni High School - 121, John Ross College - 22, Grantleigh - 21 and Felixton - 5.
