Jannie Nel, Faan Greyling and Fanie van Jaarsveldt show off the 191kg Blue Marlin*

THE ninth Mapelane Billfish Challenge took place last week.
On Monday, Day One, Jannie Nel took overall honours on ‘Casper’ with a 191kg Blue Marlin.
The by catch was scooped by Team ‘Stephe’ with a 19.7kg Dorado.
Day Two was unfortunately blown out.
Day Three’s by catch was claimed by Team Magangane with a Yellowfin Tuna of about 76kg.
On Day Four, Team Lucky III took honours with a Black Marlin of 150-160kg that was tagged and released.
This gave them second place overall.
The by catch was awarded to Team ‘Slip In’ with their Yellowfin of about 21kg.
Day five was blown out.
Next year is the 10th year of the Mapelane Billfish Challenge and the organisers are promising an even bigger event.
The organisers thank all the sponsors, especially Build-It.
