EMPANGENI women took on UniZul in their first match of the day at Addison Park in Empangeni on Sunday morning.
A one-sided game resulted in Empangeni trumping their opponents 14-0.
Varsity had their chances but were unable to contain the home team.
Richards Bay I then took on their second team. But with the captains opting to mix the quads for a more competitive game, their score is of no importance.
Empangeni’s second game was against the in-form Vets side.
The Vets continue to show the youth that they still have what it takes.
After an erratic start by Empangeni, who were down 3-0 at half time, they settled in the second half and managed to prevent the Vets from scoring again.
Final score was 3-0 to the Vets.
eShowe took on UniZul for their second game and it was another hiding for the students, with eShowe winning 10-0.

Men
Empangeni took on UniZul.
The students, starting with 10 players, slotted an early goal, but Empangeni fought back and a well-balanced game played out.
Some great saves from the UniZul goalkeeper Qinisani Siveshe kept the score line to
4-1 in favour of the home team.
Next up was eShowe taking on the might of Richards Bay I.
eShowe seems to be the team to beat this season.
Some hard hockey was played and an evenly matched match drew to a close with the score on 2-2.

Trials
A reminder to all hockey players that the Zululand trials take place this Saturday 2 May at Addison Park in Empangeni.
