Stewart Shield action in full flow

RICHARDS Bay I, with two victories, their second team and Empangeni III were Stewart Shield winners in last week’s round of matches.
Richards Bay I, making up for their match that was lost because of the power failure, beat their second team 22-7 last Tuesday night.
And then in their clash with Mtuba in Richards Bay, the home team were more than comfortable 32-13 winners.
The match in eShowe proved entertaining with Richards Bay II getting home 20-17 in a closely contested match.
The Bay side, with tries to Ronnie Field and Martin Stander, led 14-3 at half time and were able to keep their heads above water with two second half penalties to AJ Olivier.
eShowe, who came back strongly in the second half, replied with two tries to centre Wicus Taute and two conversions and a penalty to Stefan Erasmus.
Richards Bay I, who were 13-3 down at the break, exerted pressure in the second spell to win comfortably 32-13.
Jarred Shore, Jannie Prinsloo and Ivan Nortjie, who got over twice, were the try scorers.
Connie Vermaak kicked four conversions and two penalties to finish with 14 points for the match.
Mtuba, who gave a good account of themselves in the first half but faded badly in the second, replied with a try to Amos Theart and a conversion and two penalties to Bollie Meyers. Empangeni III beat Mandeni 10-7.
The visitors led 7-5 at the break but with tries to Mauritz Grobler and Chicken Mhlongo, Empangeni took over the lead.
