N2 claims five lives
STORY: Justin Upton
Five people were killed and a number taken to hospital following two separate accidents along the popular N2 highway. In the first accident, two police officers from the Durban National Intervention Unit were travelling between KwaMbonambi and Mtuba. According to an unconfirmed source the officers were overtaking when they smashed head-on into a bakkie. Both died, along with the driver of the bakkie, and two people were transported to hospital. In the second accident, three people travelling in a minibus were killed after the minibus was involved in a head-on collision with a truck between Gingindlovu and Wombane, near eShowe. Authorities urge drivers to use caution and practice road safety when driving, especially when the roads are wet and visibility is low.
