Stepping into the future - barefoot
STORY: Larry Bentley

Some of the many shoes left behind at the eShowe High School after the 2011 matrics finished writing their final exam
Entering the ‘big world’ after school can be scary, but eShowe High matric pupils made a statement and walked out bravely, many barefoot.
They were encouraged to leave their school shoes at their desk after completing their final matric exam and either walk home barefoot or wearing alternative shoes.
This was all for a good cause, as the shoes collected were presented to an NGO caring for orphans.
Living up to the school’s motto ‘Service’, over 70 pairs of shoes were collected.
