Umlozi is a sister newspaper to the Zululand Observer and caters for residents in the Empangeni, Ngwelezane, Richards Bay, Nseleni, eSikhaleni, Ulundi, Melmoth and eShowe hub. It was launched in 1992 to give advertisers in the area blanket coverage, with specific emphasis on community news. Umlozi is a paid newspaper with a print order of 6 000 (readership averaging 30 000). It also has wide community acceptance and is a vital communication link with the rapidly urbanising black market.
All publications fall under the Audited Bureau of Circulation and at a conservative estimate - four readers sharing one publication - this gives a total readership of about half a million!
