Arson attack mystery

A Richards Bay woman is still reeling from shock following a deliberate arson attack on her property on Sunday morning. According to Annetjie Steenkamp her property in Tambotiweg was severely damaged when her carport was deliberately torched by an unknown person. ‘A motorist returning with friends after a night out saw the flames and alerted us. ‘Our neighbour, Shane who was preparing for his fishing trip at 4am also saw the flames and rushed to assist. ‘A caravan which was parked under the carport was badly damaged. ‘A glass bottle, whith a petrol smell was found under the debris and is believed to have been the cause of the fire,’ said Steenkamp. The family now live in fear after the incident and have no idea what the motive was.
