Father beats rapist - jailed

The father of a four year-old girl who was raped on Thursday was jailed for assault after he beat up the alleged rapist. A large crowd from the Slovo informal settlement at KwaMbonambi gathered outside the police station on Thursday evening, demanding that the father be released. ‘They were adamant that the father had acted correctly after being told of the abusive act against his young child,’ said one resident. The alleged rapist and the father both appeared in the Ngwelezane Magistrate’s court on Friday.
